This week in our “5 Questions with…” series, we put the spotlight on Ruben Dias, Marketing Activation Executive. Read his story and find out more about his experience at Gill so far and his surprising hobby of making rugs.
Q.1 – What excites you most about Gill and your role here?
The first time I heard about Gill Group and their story, it opened my eyes to the importance of sustainability and the environment. Clearly, my knowledge in this kind of culture didn’t exist, but it made want to work for Gill even more. In my role, I’m excited to contribute my skills and expertise in design, while also learning from professionals around me. There is a huge opportunity to grow here!
Q.2 – You are relatively new to this industry. What interests you most?
The main thing that interests me the most is how dynamic and fast-paced the industry is. Being new is scary, but it also gives me an advantage because I can approach challenges with fresh curiosity. I’m also drawn to how different functions connect with each other and how big of an impact it makes.
Q.3 –How do you see technology impacting your role over the next 5 years?
Well, technology is always evolving. I don’t think it will make a big impact in my role, I feel that it is probably going to enhance it more, allowing me to be more creative. Sometimes I don’t want to be part of automation, but maybe I can leverage it as an emerging tool to stay ahead of the industry and trends.
Q.4 -Tell us something about yourself that might surprise us.
Something that might surprise everyone…I guess the fact I’m not just a graphic designer. My passion has always been fine art, so I make sure to step out of my comfort zone and learn new skills, such as most recently Tufting Art – the art of creating rugs. Seems unusual, but it’s nice to create something with your own hands.
Q.5 -Do you have a favourite quote or mantra you live by?
“Design is thinking made visual” – Saul Bass, Graphic designer and Filmmaker
