Q.1 – What excites you most about Gill and your role here?
Since an early age I have been fascinated with the power of severe weather and tornadoes (disaster films are my favourite movie genre), so joining a market leader in meteorology is a massive highlight. Gill represents the best of both worlds, being a respected family-run business with 40 years of stability and a cutting-edge pioneer in the environmental tech world.
Q.2 – Youβve been in the industry for many years now.Β What interests you most?
It is a constant learning curve, maintaining total accuracy in a changing regulatory landscape. With my background in Payroll and Management Accounts, it allows me to bridge the gap between Finance and HR. I really enjoy the analytical side of reconciling accounts and investigating variances, itβs the ultimate puzzle!
Q.3 –How do you see the industry changing in the next five years?
Over the next 5 years, there will be an increased shift and focus on digital integration, but the key will be to balance the technological advancement with a human touch. The major gripe of today is too much automation, and, in some instances, this can be quite detrimental to the end goal, so I believe getting the balance right will create the market leaders of tomorrow.
Q.4 –Who has inspired you the most in your career, and what did you learn from them?
There has not been a career inspiration as such for me, but more a life inspiration. I was always told to treat others how you want to be treated, and I feel this has not steered me wrong.
Q.5 -Tell us something about yourself that might surprise us.
I hold a full motorcycle licence; it was a bucket list tick before my 30th. Although I have not been on a motorbike for a good few years, you never know, βIn a world full of followers, be a bikerβ.
