This week in our ‘5 questions with…’ series, we put the spotlight on Cody Beedlow, Project Manager.
Discover what Cody has to say about his time working at Gill, what he enjoys about working product management and his love for traveling with his family.
Q.1 – What excites you most about Gill and your role here?
Gill is going in some really exciting directions. I am excited to join the team and help contributing to accomplishing their goals.
Q.2 – What interests you most about the industry?
I have been in this industry for a number of years now. I love creating solutions to help customers solve complex environmental monitoring problems. There is, and will always be, a need for better data and more of it.
Q.3 –How do you see technology impacting your role over the next 5 years?
Sensors are going to get faster, smarter, and more accurate. Observation systems and networks will become more connected using wireless and cloud technologies. There will also be a densification in our observation networks to better understand the spatial variability in our observations. This will help with decision making, mitigation, and policy with a changing climate. AI will improve observations and forecasting, so customers will be better informed to make mission-critical decisions.
Q.4 -Who has inspired you the most in your career, and what did you learn from them?
My dad inspired me the most in my career. He was a research scientist for the US EPA and it was him and his colleagues who mentored me in environmental monitoring sensors and systems.
Q.5 -Tell us something about yourself that might surprise us.
My educational background is in Glaciology. In graduate school, I used to build weather stations and deploy them on glaciers to quantify and model snow and ice melt.
